Because you asked...

...Here is a picture of me in my Marie-Antoinette-inspired wedding dress. I made it myself (and made terrible mistakes making it:I'd do a much better job if I could make it again). Oh, and this is taken under my favorite apple tree from my childhood home.

Ah, lovely! Thanks so much for obliging my request! :)

You look stunning; a timelessly beautiful maiden bride. What a classic photo! I think it's really neat that you made your wedding gown...

Pax Christi,
Claire

P.S. Just curious... how many years are you married?

The dress is so beautiful. I wish I could sew like that. Oh, and the setting is so perfect. What fabric did you use for the dress? Wow to be able to make your own wedding dress. The picture looks like a cover for a book! Sorry this totally off topic, but what kind of tree is that. It looks so fairyish! I am praying for you and your family, especially the new baby!
God bless,
Claire(Mae's older sister)

Hi Claire!
I used polyester chiffon, but if I had to do it again, I'd use silk chiffon, especially now that I know places to get good deals on it (like dharmatrading.com). The dress was pretty, but it was *so hot* to wear in August in a reception hall that did *not* have air conditioning! Silk would have given it a more floaty texture like the dress Marie Antoinette is wearing in the picture below: though I believe her dresses were usually muslin.

And it's an apple tree.
Exquisite, Regina! The entire photo looks like a pre-Raphaelite painting. Very lovely!

Oh! The dress is so beautiful! And I bet (even though it may have been a bit uncomfortable because of the heat) that it means more to you since you made it yourself. *sigh* It's a great photo too. Boy! That full skirt looks like it was difficult to make!
Thanks for sharing the picture,
Mae
P.S. *wistful* Someday my Bear (or Fish) will come...

Mrs. Doman! You look like a princess! As for the mistakes, I can hardly tell! =)

Did you find a pattern for the dress, or did you design it yourself? It is gorgeous!

That is sooooo beautiful!! When I first saw the picture I didn't read that it was you and I thought it was a cover you were going to use for one of your books.

Emily,
I designed it myself, which is one reason why I made so many mistakes. :)
