Doing some Updates...
I am hoping to have the revised edition of Black as Night that has the correct birthdays up on the Lulu.com website tonight. So if any of you were waiting to buy the corrected version, you can get it now.
Also *THANK YOU* to those of you who sent in typos for Waking Rose. I have corrected all of them (including the one someone just posted) plus more that were not caught. I've also changed the font to be the same as the other two books, since we had a few - not many! - complaints. So I've officially changed over to the Second Edition of Waking Rose, which is what is available for sale now.
Also in the works for 2008 is yet another revised edition of The Shadow of the Bear. Mainly it's because I've been wanting to revise the first chapter, and cut out some of the talky parts that don't have much to do with the plot. Thanks mostly to my wonderful husband, I'm preparing to release that by the end of this month. This will make the 2007 10th Anniversary Edition a real collectible, one that won't be available after 2007 is over.
Oh, and JUST when I've finished with revising the first three books, Lulu.com decided to offer a smaller size novel format after all -- one that is remarkably similar to the size of the original books!
(*fumes and stomps around the room*)
Now, it's not EXACTLY the same size - it's about a 1/4" bigger than the original Shadow and Black as Night, but if any of you express interest in having this smaller size, I might just consider trying it out, at least for Waking Rose. I still think the books would look better in smaller sizes, though the hefty 6"x9"'s have grown on me after a while. (BTW the prices would be the same, not cheaper, because a smaller book has more pages, hence costs more...)
So feel free to post your opinion! (deep sigh) I'd like to finish revising and just work on a new book-- soon!

Also, will Bethlehem Books be publishing "The Midnight Dancers"? Because I LOVED the illustrations of the first two books. I wish they had had them for the third one!
Also, I'm sorry, I may have missed your reply, but I posted this question on another one of your posts and I didn't see your reply to it:
OK, here's one:
In Waking Rose, Rose has that whole scene where she's walking back from play practice and is freaked out; she hears someone following her, but can't see anyone. Who was following her? It can't have been Donna, because Rose didn't see anyone. What was it?
THANKS!!!!!!!
Lots of questions!
Q: Do you have any suggestions on how to keep working on just one book?
A: Not really - I myself usually work on several at once, but eventually one just starts being more interesting to me and I end up finishing it. If you really just want to see yourself finish something, there's nothing for it but sheer strength of will and discipline and focus. You have to treat it sort of like a school term paper at times (which to me, is the only reason for doing school papers in the first place - to learn how to finish books!). Finishing a book isn't easy! You have to make yourself your own schoolteacher and just force yourself to do it. It means making time for it in the midst of other obligations, and not doing things that are fun and easy instead, like email, surfing the web, watching movies, and starting new books!
Q: I love the idea of the smaller book; I'll definitely be willing to spend the same price on it. Is that the size that "The Midnight Dancers" will be in?
A: Sigh... I don't know. I'll probably wait for more feedback to see if anyone else wants me to try out the smaller ones. I do want the books to all match, somehow...

A: Nope, Bethlehem Books is done with publishing new fiction. They are just doing reprints of old books from now on. I don't foresee my going back to them. I plan on self-publishing The Midnight Dancers.

A: It was Donna. She was just hiding in the bushes.

And if I buy the hardcover set, will the hardcover of Midnight Dancers be the same size/format?
Smaller would be okay, but I really just want to stop buying different editions or waiting to buy the "final" versions so that my series will all be congruent in design.
And "Thanks!" for all your hard work!
P.S. I saw "Catholic, Reluctantly" for sale from Sophia in an ad in the National Catholic Register, but I thought that you mentioned at the forum that it wouldn't be available until Spring. Did something change? Just thought that I would mention it....
So is it only the first chapter that will be different?
I would be interested in buying small covers, but I don't mind the larger. Whatever is more convinenient! All as long as the books are availible for purchase. Whatever size, type font, illustrations, it doesn't really matter that much. =) I can't wait to get Waking Rose for Christmas!!!!
A: No, right now Lulu only offers hardcovers in the 6x9 size. The corrections are done on Waking Rose and Black as Night if you want to order: I am still trying to fix some problems in The Shadow of the Bear new edition. But if you want the 10th anniversary edition, you only have one month left to order it.
Q: And if I buy the hardcover set, will the hardcover of Midnight Dancers be the same size/format?
A: I will go ahead and say yes, it will be. And if Lulu does start offering a smaller size, I might just print the next book in two sizes if I have to! (how confusing this will be...)
Q: I saw "Catholic, Reluctantly" for sale from Sophia in an ad in the National Catholic Register, but I thought that you mentioned at the forum that it wouldn't be available until Spring. Did something change?
A: Yes. Sophia wasn't able to get the books printed in time for Christmas. They'll be taking orders on Dec. 20th, but the books won't be shippped until sometime in January. I'll post more on this later...
Q: Another revised Shadow of the Bear? :) So is it only the first chapter that will be different?
A: Actually, the first ten chapters have been revised! There are minor changes in the later chapters (ie: Rose's birthday is fixed) but basically they are the same. And actually, this brings up a favor I have to ask you: would you all be interested in previewing the first ten chapters, which we made quite a few changes to? Mainly we cut out things that didn't have to do with the plot or the storyline, and fixed the flow of the story. But knowing how many of you love the book, we're hoping and praying that we haven't inadvertantly cut out bits that you all particularly liked. So we would like to invite fans (and I'll do this officially in a blog post and forum post later on this week - hopefully) to read the first ten chapters in a private link online and let us know what you think. We would truly value your feedback. We're figuring out now how to do this in the easiest way possible. So stay tuned!

-Personally, I like the size the books are now (the bigger size), but it doesn't really matter.
Is there any possible way to offer the books in both sizes? It is a bit fustrating to have the size keep changing. For instance- I now have Waking Rose (the first edition) with the uncorrected typos, and am asking for Black as Night and Shadow of the Bear for Christmas- and obviously I want them to match Waking Rose in size. However, if future books are offered in differant sizes, it could get complicated. (It all depends how they sit on the shelf...Midnight Dancers and books following that could be smaller, but if Fish's book takes place chronologically before Waking Rose, then that's probably where it's going to stand on the shelf!)
I hope that was somewhat helpful...=)
P.s. to everyone else- feel free to come over to the forum and start posting questions and starting discussions there! We have 62 members, but only about half of them are posting right now, and we'd love to hear more from the rest of you! =)
